She made the decision to tell her own story rather than conduct interviews.

On Sunday, Britney Spears made the decision to post a 22-minute audio tape to her YouTube channel in which she details her experiences while still being under conservatorship by her father, Jamie Spears. The video has since been removed.

“I woke up this morning and I realized there’s a lot going on in my head that I haven’t shared with anyone,” Spears can be heard saying in a clip that didn’t show any pictures or even herself acquired by Variety.

The “Princess of Pop” went on to say that she preferred to tell her own story rather than accepting several interview chances that were presented to her, such as an interview with Oprah.

“I’ve had tons of opportunities…but I’m here to open myself to others and shed a light on it. I get nothing out of sharing this. I have offers lots and lots of money, to me, it’s beyond a sit-down, proper interview.”

She continued: “Honestly to this day, I don’t know really what I did, but the punishment of my father, I wasn’t able to see anyone or say anything. None of it made sense to me.”

Spears added that she was prohibited from meeting friends or using her own car, and that she had to work and tour for 15 years. Additionally, she was uncomfortable asking for help because her phone had also been tapped.

At that time, she further had have a long-running residency in Vegas, but she said in court that she was coerced into performing and didn’t want to take part in her 2018 European tour.

She was also angry over the fact that her mother, brother, and even her friends supported the situation and chose to ignore hers. As a matter of fact, her parents were both involved in establishing the conservatorship.

“It was demoralizing,” the singer remarked. “You also have to understand, it was like 15 years of touring and doing shows. And I’m 30 years old, living under my dad’s rules. And while all of this is going on, my mom’s witnessing this, my brother, my friends — they all go along with it.”

The majority of the assertions she made in the audio clip corresponded to those she had renounced during the court proceeding for the termination of her father’s conservatorship.

As we previously reported, Spears’ conservatorship has been ended after nearly 14 years without additional mental assessments to be granted.
