The singer recently made an appearance in court to deny the serious allegations.
Alexander O’Connor, better known by his stage name Rex Orange County, is currently a hot topic on social media and in the news after being accused of six charges of sexual assault.
The Sun reported that O’Connor assaulted the victim six times in London. On June 1, he initially assaulted her twice in the West End, then the next day, he attacked her four more times—once in a taxi and three more instances at his Notting Hill home.
Additionally, his representative issued a statement to several news outlets regarding the severe accusations, stating that the artist is startled by the claims, which he vigorously refutes and anticipates establishing his innocence in court.
“He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings,” the statement added.
Furthermore, O’Connor showed up in court on Monday to refute the charges and entered a not-guilty plea to all six charges at Southwark Crown Court in London. He was then granted unconditional bail.
These startling allegations follow his recent announcement that he would be postponing his planned tour dates in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in order to spend more time at home this year owing to unexpected personal events.
“This is the last thing I want to do. I love touring and I am so sorry to be letting anyone down. I look forward to getting back to it as soon as I can.”
The “Sunflower” singer’s preliminary hearing is also set for January 3, 2023, and as of this writing, he hasn’t released any statements to the public.
