Before rising to fame as one of Australia’s most well-known actors, Vernon George Wells had a humble beginning. Vernon started out working at a quarry before moving on to sales, theater, and rock bands.

He was chosen by casting directors in the 1970s to take part in a play. From that point on, Vernon started to appear in print advertisements, regional Australian TV shows like “Matlock Police” and “Homicide,” as well as historical TV miniseries notably “Against The Wind,” “Sara Dane,” and “All The Rivers Run.”

After multiple appearances and gigs in the entertainment industry, Vernon finally had his cinema debut, playing a supporting role in 1979’s erotic fantasy low-budget movie, “Felicity.”

Later, in 1981, he was chosen to play the murderous biker Wez in “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior,” which helped him progressively rise to stardom and become well-known internationally. Afterward, Vernon started making appearances in Hollywood movies, playing the role of Bennett in the 1985 military action movie “Commando,” which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
