Fans criticize Millie Bobby Brown for becoming engaged to Jake Bongiovi at such a young age. After two years of dating, the “Stranger Things” star, 19, announced on Instagram on Tuesday that Bongiovi, 20, had proposed; however, many of her nearly 63 million followers were disappointed by the news.
“What? She’s eleven,” a punster wrote in the comments portion of Brown’s Instagram post, referring to her Netflix character’s name. A second person asked, “Isn’t she only 19?”
“Omgg, too young,” commented a third. “Child marriage should not occur,” concurred another speaker. Others supported the couple’s decision to take their relationship to the next level, noting that they are two adults in love.
One defender commented, “I find it very interesting how many people who don’t know Millie Bobby Brown personally think it’s their business whether a decision she made was right or wrong LOL. I’m happy for her if she’s happy, and it’s none of your business to tell them what they should or should not do.”
“For those upset about her engagement, she’s not saying she’s getting married IMMEDIATELY; it simply signifies that she and her partner have made their affection for one another official. It’s her life, so just be pleased for her,” a second person wrote.
“Technically, she is an adult and can make her own decisions. Would I be all right with my children getting married at 19? Considering that I got engaged and married at 19, and we’re still together almost ten years later, would I be okay with my children getting married at 19? Nevertheless, congratulations to them!” someone concurred.

Also celebrating their engagement on Instagram, the son of Jon Bon Jovi posted a photo of his proposal with the concise caption “Forever.” The self-described “all-around cool guy” appeared to receive more support from his followers than his fiancée. His post was inundated with well-wishes.
Bonjovi began courting Brown around the middle of 2021 and made their relationship Instagram-official in November. The couple then spent the holidays together and traveled the globe before making their red-carpet debut at the BAFTAs in London in March 2022.
Earlier this year, the actress indicated that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Bongiovi when she referred to him on social media as her “life partner.
