Vir Das was born in Dehradun to Ranu Das and Madhur Das on May 31, 1979. Vir grew up in both Nigeria and India. He attended the Indian Language School in Lagos, Nigeria, while in Nigeria. He attended The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and Delhi Public School, Noida, in India. After 18 months at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, he moved to the U.S. Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, awarded him a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Theatre with a concentration in performance.

Vir Das began his career with a performance titled “Walking on Broken Das” at one of the finest hotels in New Delhi. Das began his television career by hosting two TV programs on Zoom.
