We extend our sincere sympathies to her family, friends, and supporters during this difficult time.
Mary Mara, who was well-known for her work on a number of popular television shows, including “Nash Bridges,” “ER,” and “Law & Order,” has reportedly drowned to death in an Upstate New York river.
The actress’ corpse was found not long after 10 a.m., according to New York State Police’s statement acquired by TMZ. Officers who were called to a suspected drowning call on Sunday around 8 a.m., found the victim in the St. Lawrence River.
A family spokesman subsequently issued a statement, which Deadline obtained, claiming that Mara was staying at her sister Martha Mara’s summer residence in Syracuse, which has riverfront property.
Her manager, Craig Dorfman, quickly offered an emotional homage in response to the tragic news and issued the following statement: “Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met.”
“I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in “Mad Forest” off Broadway. She was electric, funny and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”
Along with her roles in “Nash Bridges,” “ER,” and “Law & Order,” Mara has starred in more than 20 films and 40 television programs, including “West Wing,” “Mr. Saturday Night,” “The Hard Way,” “Love Potion No. 9,” “Lost,” and “Shameless.”
