It was a shock to fans before when they got engaged, and now, they are shocked since the two musicians have called it quits.
After a whirlwind engagement, it appears that Avril Lavigne and her now former fiancé, Mod Sun, have called it quits. The pair got engaged last April after dating for less than a year, and now, they have also called the engagement off.
Going “on and off” for the past few months, the two musicians recently attempted to make things work, but obviously, to no avail, according to sources acquired from multiple news outlets.
And even while it seems like a sufficient justification for their breakup, it’s still not apparent what caused their split. Sources also made it clear that neither side had engaged in cheating.
This sad news comes after the “Head Above Water” singer was recently seen hanging out with Tyga at NOBU. Also, there were pictures of them sharing a goodbye hug in a parking lot before parting ways. Yet, information at the time just stated that they were friends.
As we previously reported, the pair sparked engagement rumors in April 2022 after Avril was seen sporting a huge diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger while arriving at a studio in Los Angeles. However, she didn’t wear the ring during the Grammys ceremony at that time.
The couple met while working on the song and co-starring in the music video, which was released in February 2021. They made their red carpet debut at the MTV Video Music Awards in the same year, and after less than a month of dating, he had her name tattooed on his neck, indicating that things were becoming serious.
As of this writing, representatives for Avril has not yet responded to any of the news outlets’ request for comment, nor has she addressed it. Meanwhile, Mod’s rep released a statement saying, “They were together and engaged as of 3 days ago when he left for tour, so if anything has changed, that’s news to him.”
Lavigne’s engagement to Mod is the latest in a string of failed relationships. Although the reason for the couple’s decision to call off their engagement is unknown, going by the statement from Mod’s representatives, it appears that Avril was the one who made the decision.
