Servings: 4 servings
Prep time: 1 hour
Cook time: 12 minutes
Total time: 1 hour and 12 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 lb Flat Iron steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1/2 lb Broccoli, cut into small florets
- 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
- 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Oil
- 1 tsp Fish Sauce
Beef and Broccoli Marinade:
- 1/4 cup Coconut Aminos
- 1 tsp Root ginger, peeled and grated. (Do not use powdered ginger!)
- 2 cloves Garlic chopped
Instructions
- Slice the flat iron steak thinly and against the grain.
- Add the meat slices, coconut aminos, ginger, and garlic to a small bag. Marinate for one hour in the refrigerator.
- Drain the beef from the marinade when you are ready to cook but keep the liquid; this will be the stir-fry sauce.
- Blanche the broccoli for two minutes, then drain this very well.
- Heat oil in a large wok or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, then stir-fry the beef for one to three minutes or until browned. Remove from the skillet.
- For around 3 minutes, stir-fry broccoli until this is crisp-tender. Add the remaining marinade and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Return the beef to the pan with the broccoli and warm through. Stir in the fish sauce and toasted sesame oil. It is ideally served when hot.
Recipe Notes:
Root Ginger – use only root ginger; this is not interchangeable with powdered ginger that you typically use in baking. You should be able to find ginger root at any grocery store, so ask if you are unsure. You must peel it first and then grate it or finely chop it.
Coconut Aminos – Some amino coconut brands have a higher carb count than others, depending on the ingredients, so read the label.
