Servings: 6 servings

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 45 minutes

Total time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • 453.59 g Breakfast sausage
  • 273 g Broccoli (optional – cut into florets if using)
  • 6 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 12 large Egg
  • 119 g Heavy cream
  • 226 g Cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 29.57 g Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1.23 g Sea salt
  • 1.23 g Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat some oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about one minute until its aroma is noticeable.
  2. Add breakfast sausage to the skillet and cook for around 10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until it turns brown.
  3. At the same time, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  4. If you plan to use broccoli or other vegetables, blanch them in boiling water for 5-7 minutes until they are crisp-tender. Then, transfer them to an ice bath to halt cooking, drain, and pat them dry.
  5. Whisk the eggs, heavy cream, half of the cheddar cheese, parsley, sea salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  6. Grease the bottom of a 9×13 inch (22×33 cm) glass or ceramic casserole dish with some oil. Arrange the crumbled sausage evenly at the bottom of the dish. If you include broccoli or any pre-cooked vegetables, mix them with the sausage at this step.
  7. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and vegetables (if added) and sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake the casserole in the oven for approximately 30 minutes until the eggs are set, and the cheese is melted.
