MCU might be one of the best ways to get fame, but not everyone is thirsty for it.

Unlike numerous Hollywood celebrities, Bob Odenkirk does not intend to find his place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a recent interview with The Independent, the “Better Call Saul” actor stated that while he always looks for dynamics in his career, a role in a Marvel film would not suit him. The actor explained that he believes he is built for characters that make you feel like he lives next door.

“I prefer to keep things grounded, relatable, and compact. I do not believe I am suited for that environment,” he stated. “I’m suited to portraying characters who make you feel like they could live next door.”

Ilya Naishuller, the director of “Nobody,” previously stated to The Hollywood Reporter that Bob stretched himself to the limit for the film. “He had put in a great effort,” the director said. “One and a half years of training. It is difficult to commence training after the age of 50.”

The upcoming sequel to the action film “Nobody” represents the highest level of anti-heroism in which Odenkirk is intrigued. Odenkirk stated, “I care more than you can imagine about this. You’d assume it was a biopic about my life rather than an action film.” Previously, the actor stated that “Nobody” was an inevitable continuation of “Better Call Saul.

“I was quite taken aback by ‘Nobody.’ Odenkirk stated in September 2022, I initiated that project because I had a feeling that the character I was developing on ‘Better Call Saul’ was the type of character you see in an action film. He has sincere desires and was willing to make sacrifices for them.”

He continued, “If I have my way, you’ll see me taking more action. I found the action sequences entertaining and similar to sketch comedy. I adore the early Jackie Chan films, which contained hilarity. I hope to acquire that in the future.”

Moreover, Odenkirk acknowledged that “Nobody” was inspired by two actual home invasions he encountered. “I hope that we get to do a trilogy, and he gets nothing,” Odenkirk said of the character’s hopes for a franchise. “He destroys all that he cherishes.”

Nobody” premiered in 2021 and was produced by David Leitch, the director of “Bullet Train” and co-director of “John Wick.” Leitch confirmed earlier this year that Derek Kolstad is currently writing the screenplay for a “Nobody” sequel, which will be directed by Ilya Naishuller once more.

Additionally, Odenkirk is starring in a remake of “The Room,” with proceeds benefiting amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research. Initially portrayed by writer-director Tommy Wiseau in the 2003 film, Johnny is played by Odenkirk.

“I am not making fun of Tommy’s performance or the script. I say, “Here is your script. Bob Odenkirk, this is your responsibility. How are you going to make it feel genuine and legitimate?'” Odenkirk said. “Wow, when you view it, even for one or two scenes, you exclaim, ‘Wow! That’s a legitimate film, and I’d view it!’ You wonder for a split second, “Am I witnessing a genuine performance, and am I moved by ‘The Room’?”

Odenkirk has made a name for himself in several comedy projects, including writing for “Saturday Night Live” and most recently starring in “Lucky Hank.” Still, his role in the 2021 film “Nobody” vastly differed from those he has previously portrayed.

Although the role was in an action film, which could be interpreted as preparing him for the “MCU,” Odenkirk views his character differently. He explained, “[Hutch Mansell] is still a family man, but his relationship with violence has changed,” adding, “He has changed, but he has a long way to go before he finds true balance in his life.”
