Caring does not give us the right to comment on other people’s bodies.

Ariana Grande assured her admirers that she is healthy in response to their claims that she appeared too thin in recent photos. The singer was candid in a three-minute TikTok video on Tuesday, imploring her followers to be more considerate before commenting on the appearances of others.

“The body you’ve been comparing my current body to was my unhealthiest iteration,” she explained. “I was taking numerous antidepressants, drinking on them, and eating inadequately. [I was] at the lowest point of my life when I appeared healthy, but that was not my healthy appearance.”

The former “Victorious” star continued, “I realize I shouldn’t have to explain that. However, some good could result from this situation’s openness and vulnerability.” The actress also urged admirers not to comment on the appearances of others.

Photos of Grande attending Jeff Goldblum’s London concert last week prompted fans to remark on the singer’s appearance. She bundled up in an oversized pink parka and her “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo as they supported a mutual friend.

In response to the images, one person tweeted, “Ariana Grande appears worryingly thin.” At the same time, another added, “Very controversial opinion, but she’s seriously too thin… I’m concerned about her.” The chart-topper stated elsewhere in the TikTok film that she believes people should feel less comfortable commenting on others’ bodies, even if their intentions are good.

“There are ways to compliment someone or to ignore something you see that you don’t like,” she said. “I believe that we should assist one another in developing these skills. We should strive to make ourselves and each other safer.”

Grande, currently filming the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked,” stated that “healthy can look different” on various individuals. “You never know what someone else is going through.”

“Therefore, even if you are coming from a compassionate and caring place, the individual is likely working on it or has a support system with which they are working on it. Be kind to one another and yourself.” She concluded the PSA by sending her followers a message of love.

“I believe you to be attractive. No matter what you are experiencing, you are not alone. No matter your weight, how you apply your makeup today, whether you’ve had cosmetic procedures or not, or anything else,” she said.

The singer has previously discussed her struggles with anxiety, melancholy, and PTSD following the 2017 Manchester concert bombing, which killed 22 people.
