After the story of the series was told, her career seemed to have ended.

The most recent trilogy in the “Star Wars” franchise was the final installment in the “Skywalker Saga.” It proved pretty divisive. In any case, it introduced many new fans to the franchise, reintroduced some familiar characters, and ushered in a new era of “Star Wars” content.

The trend continues now that fans have “The Mandalorian” and received “The Clone Wars'” final season. Despite the film’s triumph, Daisy Ridley, who played Rey, could not find work after the final film’s release.

Throughout the three films, these new and returning characters attempt to save the galaxy while Kylo Ren and the First Order attempt to maintain their control. The films demonstrated that much of the “Skywalker Saga” is repetitive.

Again, despite its flaws, it introduced “Star Wars” to a new audience and provided nostalgia for the rest of the fandom. “It was so sad to finish [Star Wars],” Ridley said in an August 27 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “When the movie was released, I was like, ‘Oh my God.'” It was an enormous chapter.”

She added that due to COVID-19 shutdowns and other factors, she could process five years of continuous “Star Wars.” “To be forced to slow down,” she remarked. “It benefited my mental health because [Star Wars] was a significant part of my existence.”

Even with the pandemic, there were other reasons Ridley had so much spare time; in addition, she needed to have tasks lined up or in the works. She stated, “Strangely, nothing was coming through at the beginning of the year. I was like, ‘Aww! Nobody wants to hire me.’”

It was also not for lack of effort. Ridley revealed that she was actively seeking opportunities after the conclusion of “Star Wars.” Ridley stated, “At the beginning of the year, I auditioned for many roles for which I was ultimately unsuccessful.”

Ridley acknowledged that she had a freakout moment in which she exclaimed, “Oh my God!” However, it appears that she stepped back and told herself, “Everything is at the right time.”

With her most recent role as a voice actor in the video game “Twelve Minutes,” alongside James McAvoy and Willem Dafoe, she is regaining employment. She referred to February and March when she said, “Things began to pick up.”

As stated previously, the final installment of the “Skywalker Saga” received more criticism than the previous two films in the sequel trilogy. And Ridley did suffer the consequences.

She shared in April that most of the feedback she received or read terrific but that “The Rise of Skywalker” was tricky. “January was not very pleasant,” Ridley stated in a separate interview with the publication. “It was strange; I had the impression that all of the love we’d received the first time around had vanished.”

Regardless, Ridley’s situation appears to be improving. In addition to “Twelve Minutes,” she is working on a personal project that is a significant departure from “Star Wars.” She said, “There’s one thing I’m going to do that’s extremely f***ing dark. I was like, ‘Do we need something this dark?'”

“However, it is also extremely intriguing and about memory, and the narrative is somewhat fragmented. I strongly believe that what I want to observe and participate in is something joyful. This is what individuals require.”

Disney announced plans for a new “Star Wars” film based on Ridley’s character Rey in 2023, which was great news for Rey aficionados. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will helm the untitled film written by Steven Knight.
