Jax Taylor is an American television star, model, actor, influencer, author, and entrepreneur known for “Vanderpump Rules”, “Desperate Housewives”, and “Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens”. He’s also known for starring in the Pump Rules spin-off “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky”.

Jax Taylor's Net Worth

As of June 2022, Jax Taylor’s net worth is $2 million. His careers as a model and reality TV personality are his primary source of income. The Hollywood Reporter listed his “Vanderpump Rules” salary (1) for the first two seasons to be around $10,000 before signing a $25,000 per episode contract until his firing from the show in December 2020. He appeared in a total of 48 episodes.

Taylor’s modeling and influencer work comprise half of his impressive net worth. In 2014, he collaborated with XCALIBUR BRAND to create a sweater and shoe collection called Jax Taylor by XCALIBUR BRAND. As a model, he shot campaigns for Old Navy, Abercrombie & Fitch, Sketchers, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Paul Mitchell, and Taco Bell. Taylor is also a successful entrepreneur through his fitness application and Just Add X, a mixer company he co-founded with former NSYNC member Lance Bass.

Jax’s net worth also increases from accumulated profit from product endorsements, club appearances, and hosting engagements. As a famous TV star, his paid public appearances, ranging from $10,000 to $20,000, play an essential part in his outstanding net worth.

Jax Taylor’s notable net worth includes his $1.9 million (2) farmhouse-style Valley Village house that he shares with his wife, Brittany Cartwright. The couple’s 3,800 square feet mansion, which they purchased in July 2019, features five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, a spa, swimming pool, outdoor kitchen, and cabana.

Taylor’s net worth is expected to take a massive hit after it was revealed that he has outstanding state and federal taxes amounting to $1.2 million (3). In April 2021, his tax records were made public, which showed that he is roughly $870,000 in federal debt and owes the state of California an additional $315,000 in back taxes. Jax revealed that his tax problems resulted from having a lousy bookkeeper.

Jax Taylor's Early Life

Jason Michael Cauchi, famously known as Jax Taylor, is 42 years old. He was born on July 11, 1979. Jax was born and raised in Shelby Township, Michigan, United States of America, to Maltese father Ronald and Australian mother, Marie. Ronald Cauchi died in December 2017 after being diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer (4) two months before he passed away. Jax has been estranged from his mother since his father’s death.

Taylor considers himself lucky to have had a comfortable childhood living in the suburbs in an upper-middle-class neighborhood where he played hockey and football, dated a cheerleader, and went on various family holidays. Having religious parents meant Jax grew up in a Catholic household. He attended Sunday church until he was 19 years old.

Jax Taylor has one sister named Jenny Lynn, who works as a hairdresser in her studio salon (5) called Sola Studio in their hometown Shelby Township in Michigan.

Jax Taylor's Education

Jax Taylor attended Eisenhower High School in his hometown. He played football and hockey for the school team. Growing up Catholic (6), Jax was sent to participate in Sunday school and church activities.

Taylor, a Michigan native, went on to study at Michigan State University before dropping out to transfer to a local community college. He claimed he didn’t have the patience to study and decided to drop out and join the US Navy. The Navy sent him to train at a base in Norfolk, Virginia (7). After extensive training, they assigned Jax as a specialist in USS Theodore Roosevelt, a nuclear-powered Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. Part of his job was to drive around Special Forces troops like Navy Seals. After his stint in the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Taylor was stationed in Kosovo. He doesn’t like to discuss his time in the Navy, only that he served for four years.

Jax Taylor's Wife and Family Life

Jax Taylor has been married to Brittany Cartwright since June 29, 2019. The wedding, officiated by Jax’s Just Add X business partner Lance Bass, took place at the Kentucky Castle (8) in Versailles, Kentucky. The couple announced their engagement on June 7, 2018, after Jax proposed to Brittany with a Kyle Chan-designed cushion-cut halo diamond engagement ring in Malibu, California.

In 2015, Taylor met Cartwright at Gold Spike Lounge in Las Vegas, Nevada, while on a date with another woman. After being smitten with Brittany’s charm, at first sight, Jax left his date and decided to hang out with her and get her number. Soon, the couple moved in together in Los Angeles, California, and Brittany got introduced to Vanderpump Rules as a recurring character. The pair adopted two dogs, Yorkshire Terrier Kingsley and micro mini poodle Monroe. Jax gave Monroe to Brittany as a Christmas gift.

While starring in Vanderpump Rules, Cartwright and Taylor were given the Pump Rules spin-off “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky”. The six-episode one-season series explored the couple’s experience while visiting Brittany’s family farm in Kentucky. The pair served as producers along with their SUR Restaurant & Lounge bosses, Ken Todd and Lisa Vanderpump.

In September 2020, the couple announced they were expecting their first child. They welcomed their son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, on April 12, 2021. Jax explained that they decided to give their son religious names (9) to honor his and Brittany’s religious backgrounds.

Before dating Brittany Cartwright, Jax Taylor was in a three-year on-again, off-again relationship with fellow Vanderpump Rules co-star Stassi Schroeder. The former couple broke up after Jax cheated on Stassi with her best friend, Kristen Doute. At the time, Doute was dating Jax’s best friend and fellow Vanderpump Rules cast member Tom Sandoval.

As Pump Rules’ resident cheater and bad boy, Taylor was embroiled in various relationship scandals. He was rumored to have had a relationship with his former Miami roommate John (10). He vehemently denied the rumored relationship and then dropped his friendship with John, which caused his co-stars to think he was homophobic. Jax was also in several flings, dating and breaking up with many women like a revolving door. His flings included Laura-Leigh, Carmen Dickman, Tiffany Matthews, and Vail Bloom.

During Vanderpump Rules’ season six premiere, Jax Taylor was revealed to have had an affair with Pump Rules cast member Faith Stowers during the previous season. Stowers disclosed that Taylor told her that his relationship with Cartwright was over, and they could see each other. Brittany and Jax broke up, citing the need to reassess their relationship after Jax’s infidelity. The couple reconciled by December 2017, confirming their relationship was more stable than ever.

Jax Taylor's Career

After serving for four years in the US Navy, Jax Taylor returned home to Shelby Township, Michigan. He resigned to working a regular job until he was discovered through a chance meeting with a scouting agent at his local K-Mart while walking with his mother (11). The agent was looking for models to appear in the mall’s weekend coupon catalogs. Jax thought he had nothing to lose, so he sent his photos to the agent. His photos got the most attention and earned him $600. Taylor moved to Chicago and started booking jobs for Old Navy, Kohl’s, and Target. His modeling career took him to New York, Paris, Australia, Milan, Miami, and Los Angeles.

As a young male model, Jax Taylor lived in a small apartment with four other male models, including future actor Channing Tatum. Ford Models signed Jax for representation. He soon started appearing on magazine covers and editorials for GQ Japan, Men’s Health, Out Magazine, Instinct, Trump Magazine, Esquire, CosmoGirl, Cosmopolitan, V Man, and 944 Magazine. He also starred in campaigns for Macy’s, Sketchers JCPenney, Nordstrom, AussieBum, Old Navy, Taco Bell, Abercrombie & Fitch, and 2(x)ist. Jax was hired as the cover model for the 2007 best-selling video game “Assassin’s Creed”.

Taylor changed his professional name to Jax Taylor upon moving to Los Angeles, California. Living in L.A., Jax started going for acting auditions with little to no luck. His lone pre-Vanderpump Rules acting credit was playing an uncredited extra in a 2009 episode of Desperate Housewives. To save money on housing, Taylor looked for roommates and met soon-to-be Vanderpump Rules co-stars Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. The Toms also tried their luck in the City of Angels and took on Jax as their third roommate. As a starving actor and model, he confessed to stealing food every other day from their local grocery store, Fresh & Easy, for a year and a half.

The Toms and Taylor took bartending and serving jobs in Villa Blanca and SUR Restaurant & Lounge. Lisa Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd owned both bars. Losing hope on where his life was heading, Jax decided to leave for Tarpon Springs, Florida, where his parents relocated. He was ready to become a firefighter when Lisa Vanderpump asked him to stay in Los Angeles and wait a bit longer because she had a project in the works that she would like to include him in. Jax decided to heed Lisa’s advice and got cast in her new reality television show “Vanderpump Rules” in 2013.

Jax Taylor became an overnight sensation as Vanderpump Rules’ resident villain. His antics earned him notoriety which he converted to more professional and business opportunities. Taylor returned to his modeling career, scoring campaigns and brand collaborations with XCALIBUR BRAND (12), Gemelli, Pere de Temps watches, and Jack Victor. He obtained small guest starring roles in the Showtime series “Dexter”, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, and “Celebrity Call Center” (2020). Taylor also had a small role in the cult classic “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens” (2016). In 2019, Jax created and launched the Jax Taylor Fitness App. He also co-founded Just Add X with his friend Lance Bass.

In 2017, while starring in Vanderpump Rules, Jax and his girlfriend Brittany Cartwright were given the Pump Rules spin-off series “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky”. The show followed the pair’s visit to Brittany’s Kentucky hometown. In December 2020, after being involved in a series of arguments and racial scandals on the show, Cartwright and Taylor were both fired from Vanderpump Rules following calls from fans to let go of Taylor. The couple downplayed their firing and insisted they decided not to return to the show to focus on their growing family.

On June 12, 2022, during a fan Q&A session, Taylor announced that he had written a children’s book (13), which he expected to be released by the end of summer. He explained that the book is an homage to his late father, Ronald, who died of throat cancer before the birth of his son Cruz.

Vanderpump Rules Storyline for Jax Taylor

In 2013, Jax Taylor was announced as one of the primary cast members of Vanderpump Rules. The reality television series is a spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where Lisa Vanderpump is a regular cast member. The original cast members included Katie Maloney (later known as Katie Maloney-Schwartz), Scheana Shay, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, and Stassi Schroeder. All six cast members worked as bartenders and SURvers in Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR Restaurant & Lounge in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The Andy Cohen-produced reality show aired on the Bravo network and followed the lives of SUR employees as they navigated their personal lives while trying to make it big in Hollywood.

The show introduced Jax Taylor as one of the bar’s SURvers. At the time, he was in a three-year relationship with fellow SURver Stassi Schroeder. Jax’s season one storyline mainly consisted of rumors of him cheating on Stassi (14) during a trip to Las Vegas. After the pair broke up, Jax crashed her Las Vegas birthday party and got in a shirtless parking lot fight with her new boyfriend, Frank Herlihy. Taylor then proceeded to have a sexual fling with fellow SURver Laura-Leigh. He finished the season by confessing to Stassi that he did cheat on her during the Vegas trip.

In season two, rumors within the restaurant began circulating that Jax slept with Stassi’s best friend Kristen Doute while Jax tried to win Stassi back. Schroeder confronted Doute about the story in front of the staff, which led to the pair’s infamous violent confrontation. Still trying to get Stassi back, Jax got a tattoo of her name on himself. This stunt proved catastrophic because Stassi didn’t want anything to do with him. With cheating rumors not letting up, Kristen finally admitted that she did sleep with Jax twice. At the season finale, during Scheana Shay’s engagement party with Mike Shay, Tom Sandoval punched Jax before leaving with Kristen.

Season three brought more changes to the cast. Stassi Schroeder left for New York City while Taylor got himself a nose job. Jax started seeing Carmen Dickman, Tiffany Matthews, and Vail Bloom. By season four, the new SURver Lala Kent, was introduced. Jax was sexually interested in her, but Lala rebuffed his advances after hearing about Jax’s dating and cheating history. Taylor went on a trip to Las Vegas, where he met Brittany Cartwright. It was love at first sight, and soon, the couple started dating. Brittany followed Jax to West Hollywood, moved in with him, got a job as a SURver in SUR, and in return for moving her life to be with him, Jax paid for her new breast implants. During an employee trip to Hawaii, Taylor got so wasted that he went and stole a pair of expensive sunglasses. Theft charges were filed against him after his arrest.

Jax Taylor continued to be a trainwreck through season five. He started spreading rumors about Brittany and Kristen hooking up. Stassi came back to Los Angeles and SUR and reconnected with Jax. The former couple decided to be friends. By the end of the season, news of Jax and Brittany’s spin-off series “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky” began to spread within the group, causing jealousy and tension. The six-episode one-off reality series followed Taylor and Cartwright’s visit to Brittany’s family farm in Kentucky.

Season six’s premiere featured Brittany finding out Jax cheated on her with fellow SURver Faith Stowers. This revelation led to the couple breaking up while Stowers insisted that Taylor told her that his relationship with Cartwright was over before they hooked up. The couple briefly split up to reassess the future of their relationship but reconciled by December 2017.

Season seven featured Jax Taylor coming to terms with the sudden death of his father, Ronald Cauchi. He credits his passing as his wake-up call to change the direction of his life. Six months after getting back together, Jax proposed to Brittany in Malibu, California. Brittany’s family has reservations about Jax, but they gave way to her wishes, and the couple wed in Kentucky Castle.

In December 2020, Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor were officially fired (15) from Vanderpump Rules by the Bravo network. The couple refused to confirm their firing from the show, making similar posts on Instagram saying they decided to leave the reality show to focus on raising their growing family. The pair packed up and permanently moved to Kentucky. In November 2021, the duo gave an interview lamenting their distant relationship with Lisa Vanderpump (16) and the rest of the Pump Rules cast. Brittany admitted to missing working on the series, while Jax boldly said he doesn’t miss being part of the show. He proclaimed that he and Brittany are planning their series, which will be completely different from the premise of Vanderpump Rules.
