Amber Heard Insists She Was Not Cut From “Aquaman 2”

Update About Amber Heard's Role In Aquaman

This was her first major part in a studio picture.

Amber Heard has disputed reports that her character as Mera may be recast in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”

According to an unnamed source, Warner Bros. has opted to replace Heard’s part in the 2023 film during a screen test of the sequel and will begin reshooting anytime soon, as reported by the news site Just Jared.

“Warner Bros. decided to recast Amber Heard’s role after screentesting the movie. They are going to be doing reshoots with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman,” the insider exclusively said to the publication.

However in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for Heard claimed the allegations that she was cut from of the film were “inaccurate, insensitive, and slightly insane.”

Another sources close to the Aquaman production, which is set to hit theaters in March 2023, have also gave an update about the rumors saying, “Amber has not been completely cut from the film. She still has a small role.”

Heard is most recognized for starring with Jason Momoa, Willem Dafoe, and Patrick Wilson in Justice League’s Aquaman in 2018, which was one of Warner Bros.’ most successful DC films, earning over $1.1 billion and marking her first significant role in a studio film.

However, after she lost a defamation lawsuit brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, reports about her being deleted from the picture began to circulate on social media.

Depp claimed that after she auditioned, he assisted her in getting cast by making a phone call to Warner Bros. officials to make that happen, which she denied several times during the trial.

She testified in court that she was handed a revised version of the sequel’s screenplay that omitted a fight sequence, resulting in a “very pared-down version” of her role.

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character — without giving any spoilers away — two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch out,” she said at that time.

As we previously reported, Depp won his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Heard, with a Virginia jury awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, which she is unable to pay, according to her lawyer, and revealed plans of filing an appeal.

Reactions to Amber Heard Insists She Was Not Cut From “Aquaman 2”

When will Warner Brothers announce whether Amber Heard is still in Aquaman 2 or not?!?! I'm getting sick of seeing the rumors online that she's been cut.. Why don't they put the rumors to bed & just tell us if she's still in it or NOT! It's getting annoying.

@lovelytwisted64

I don't care how much screentime she has. I don't care how many lines she has. I don't care how often she appears in the movie. If Amber Heard is in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, I refuse to watch it. #boycottaquaman2

@IvySyndicate

I really enjoyed Jason Momoa's work on Aquaman, but I'm not going to support the abuse of Amber Heard and the double standards of companies like Warner or Disney. So #boycottaquaman2

@Drake90079137

Abuse has no gender. Amber Heard is an abuser and Johnny Depp is a victim. I love Jason Momoa but I won’t be seeing Aquaman if that Amber Heard is in it. #AmberHeardlsAnAbuser

@MillieSansoye

Johnny Depp loses his defamation case and it's fired from WB Amber Heard is caught on tape being an abusive person, loses her case and might still be on Aquaman 2. I will not watch this movie #Aquaman2

@soa_bia

I've been a fan of Jason Momoa for years, watched every single movie and series he's in. I never thought I would say this but yes I'm boycotting Aquaman 2. I am deeply appalled by what Amber Heard did to Johnny Depp that it amounts more than my admiration for Jason. So sorry baby

@RkivedInMyHeart

I want a public Warner Bros statement if they really fired and recasted Amber Heard in Aquaman 2. And apologies to Johnny Depp by the way. 🙂

@deppressead

Amber Heard is still in Aquaman 2 & is getting a book deal? I don't even know how to process this BS

@MarieWatsen

I will not watch Aquaman 2 and will ask my family & friends not to watch as well if Amber Heard will still play Mera. #CancelAmberHeard

@Mazemik

I watched Aquaman 1 because of Jason Momoa. But in light of what Amber Heard has done to Johnny Depp and the silence of the media and the company that erred against him, Aquaman 2 doesn’t exist. #boycottaquaman2
