In response to accusations brought by his nephew and after a judge issued a restraining order against him earlier this month, Ricky Martin is due to appear in court in Puerto Rico on Thursday to defend himself.
TMZ has learned directly from sources that the Latin music icon will make an appearance through Zoom and will deny having a romantic or sexual relationship with his nephew, who claims that such a relationship lasted for seven months.
This information comes in the wake of recent press stories about him that were sparked by his 21-year-old nephew’s claims of a sexual relationship and domestic abuse. He is even the subject of a restraining order and faces incest charges.
As we previously reported, Martin and his nephew had a seven-month romance during which they reportedly indulged in physical and psychological abuse following her purported breakup with Martin.
Additionally, he was the target of a restraining order connected to domestic abuse in Puerto Rico earlier this month, albeit the name of the alleged victim was suppressed. However, Eric Martin, his brother, has come forward and said that Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, is the name of the victim.
“Unfortunately the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges,” his attorney Marty Singer said in a statement acquired by multiple news outlets.
“Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”
“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting,” Singer added. “We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
