COVID-19 Positive Test For British Pop Star Ed Sheeran

"Apologies to anyone I've let down,” he says.

In a message posted to his verified Instagram account on Sunday, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran revealed that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

“Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines.”

“It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house,” Sheeran further explained. “Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x”

The announcement comes little over a week before the release of his new album, = (pronounced as Equals). The singer is set to appear as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 6, and he will be a prominent coach on NBC’s The Voice this week.

On November 5, the musician is also set to tell a bedtime tale on BBC’s “CBeebies Bedtime Stories” program, which can be viewed on the CBeebies channel and on BBC iPlayer.

According to Billboard, Sheeran confirmed the dates for his 2022 U.K./European stadium tour in September, which will feature performances in Manchester, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and among other locations.

The + – = x tour, named after the singer’s mathematically oriented album titles, will begin on April 28 in Cork, Ireland, and conclude on September 25 in Frankfurt, Germany.

A rep for him did not immediately indicate which shows he will cancel and which he will perform from home.
