Charlize Theron Gained Weight for a Movie

South African-American actress Charlize gained weight for roles in several movies. In fact, she gained about 50 pounds in the 2018 movie, “Tully.” She played the role of a mother of three who suffers from postpartum depression.

Charlize revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that gaining and then losing 50 pounds for the role had an unforeseen effect on her emotional well-being. This all happened over a period of about two years.

“I just—I wanted to feel what this woman felt, and I think that was a way for me to get closer to her and get into that mindset,” Charlize said.

When her weight gain reached its apex, the actress was depressed. It turned out that she had been eating a lot of junk food and overfeeding herself.

She added, “You know, it was a huge surprise to me. I got hit in the face pretty hard with depression. Yeah, for the first time in my life, I was eating so much processed foods, and I drank way too much sugar. I was not that fun to be around on this film.”

Fortunately, she lost that amount after she finished the film.

The actress works out for about sixty to ninety minutes. After the first set, she has to rest for about 60 seconds. Afterward, she does another set. Then she goes to the next exercise. Charlize also believes that getting fresh air is essential to her health.
