It could be hard to accept that a legend is retiring, but life is too short for him to listen to what people want- his greatest design of all time: self-love.

Law Roach finally clarified his retirement intentions and what transpired in the viral video of him and Zendaya arriving at the Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Week show. He explained that there was simply no seat for him and that he was anxious because they were running late. Still, there is no beef between him and the parent company of Louis Vuitton.

Fans speculate that an incident involving Zendaya at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month was the final straw in the celebrity stylist’s decision to quit his day job. In a video clip that went viral on social media, Roach appears angry after an exchange with his superstar client, who sat in the front row and gestured to the seat behind her, implying that Roach should sit there.

Roach, whose current and former clients include Priyanka Chopra, Hailee Steinfeld, Hunter Schafer, Celine Dion, and Ariana Grande, addressed the moment and elaborated on his decision to quit celebrity styling in an interview with.

He disclosed that he and Zendaya arrived at the Vuitton show with much anxiety because “Zendaya is respectful,” and she doesn’t like to keep people waiting. Roach was left without a seat because Vuitton employs multiple other ambassadors, including Sophie Turner, Emma Stone, Ana de Armas, Alicia Vikander, and Chlo Grace Moretz, who were all given prime seats.

“I’ve been accustomed to sitting next to her for years. In my mind, my seat was, therefore, next to hers. So when I arrived, it wasn’t a problem. Still, nobody told me where my actual seat was,” he explained. “Therefore, when you see her turn around and touch the seat behind her, she wasn’t telling me to sit there; rather, she was telling me, ‘That’s Darnell’s seat,’ which is the assistant.”

In reference to the viral video, Roach also said that he would not sit in Darnell’s chair. “People began to believe that Zendaya was not taking care of me or ensuring that I was cared for, which made the situation extremely difficult,” he added.

Roach stated that he and Zendaya attended the afterparty following the show and emphasized that he has no issues with LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton. Roach confirmed that he would not be dressing any clients for the upcoming Met Gala, despite having dressed numerous celebrities for the Academy Awards this season.

In addition, he revealed he would soon be named creative director of a footwear brand, is working on a book, among other projects, and will continue collaborating in some capacity with Zendaya. Regarding his numerous other clients, they will hire a new stylist.

Roach stated in a statement shared, “For me, fashion has always been a passion, not a profession. I’ve invested so much time and effort in cultivating this love, which has become my primary mode of communication with the world. I will take time away from celebrity styling to concentrate on myself for the first time in nearly a decade.”

For that, we wish you a happy retirement, Law Roach
