The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9 was broadcasted from November 26, 2016, to May 14, 2017, on Bravo TV. The reality TV show follows the lives of Shereé Whitfield, Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore, and Porsha Williams.
The renewal of the ninth installment came in April 2016. By June, Kandi teased that production and filming for the program had already begun. The trailer, cast, and official premiere date were confirmed on September 28, 2016. It consists of 25 episodes.
Cast and Overview of The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9
Phaedra made her final appearance in The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9. Kim Fields, introduced in season 8, departed from the series. She announced her exit during her time on Dancing with the Stars.
The good news was that familiar faces were returning to the show. Shereè Whitfield makes her full-time comeback in season 9 following Kim’s departure. She previously appeared as a recurrent character in season 8 and as a regular cast member from seasons 1 to 4.
NeNe Leakes, a former cast member, announced she would be returning to season 9 in some manner. She revealed this news before the official cast announcement. However, she later stated that she had not been called back and had not filmed any scenes.
Meanwhile, former housewives Lisa Wu and Kim Zolciak-Biermann would make a special appearance in the season finale, as teased in the season 9 trailer. Shamea Morton and Marlo Hampton would appear as special guests, as well. Lena Danielle Chenier also made several appearances.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9 kicks off with Kenya and Shereé still managing their unfinished homes, Moore Manor and Chateau Shereé, respectively. Phaedra begins filing for divorce even while her husband, Apollo Nida, is still imprisoned serving his term.
As she awaits the finalization of her divorce, Phaedra and fellow housewife Porsha discuss the possibility of dating other guys. Peter Thomas and Cynthia’s marriage crumbles, leaving the latter with some tough choices. Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker, struggle with parenthood.
Porsha is having some self-reflection and is forced to look at herself in the mirror. Kenya invites some women over to celebrate as she gets closer to building her house. Shereé is astounded by what she witnessed at the party.
Episode 1 - "House of Shade and Dust"
Kandi and Todd deal with the challenges of parenting a newborn, Ace. Kenya and Shereé work to finish Moore Manor and Chateau Shereé, respectively. Phaedra explores dating while Apollo is still in jail, Cynthia’s marriage starts to fall apart, and Porsha engages in some introspection. Shereé is taken aback by what she saw at Kenya’s celebration.
Episode 2 - "Housewife House Wars"
Cynthia is aware of how her rocky marriage has impacted her daughter. Kandi and Todd are juggling the launch of an Ace-inspired product line and the restaurant’s construction. Momma Joyce speculates on why Phaedra’s divorce is taking so long. Porsha arranges a trip.
Episode 3 - "Ghosts of Boyfriends Past"
Kenya and Matt are present during the latter’s family gathering. Cynthia is troubled by the possibility of not getting along with Peter. Bob makes an effort to get Shereé to go on a date. Kandi receives a visit that causes her to reconsider what is best for her daughter.
Episode 4 - "Another Spin Around the Block"
Phaedra brings the gang together for a noble cause, but charity is put on hold when Kenya and Shereé pick another fight. Noelle, the daughter of Cynthia, debuts as a model. Bob arranges a romantic date with Shereé. A phone call surprises Kandi.
Episode 5 - "Shade Grenade"
Shereè seeks comfort from Bob after learning that her son has been arrested. The connection between Kenya and Matt keeps deteriorating. Phaedra’s world is turned upside down when she receives a startling phone call following her attendance at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Episode 6 - "Tastes Like Trouble"
Cynthia’s divorce takes an unexpected turn when Peter begins speaking to the media. Porsha decides she’s ready to purchase her first home. Phaedra finds Mama Joyce’s choice of words to be offensive. Kenya’s relationship with Matt remains strained.
Episode 7 - "Model Behavior"
Phaedra calls Kandi to set the record straight, but the conversation turns when Kandi spills long-kept secrets. Kairo considers a modeling career. Todd meets Porsha’s family for the first time. Cynthia is waiting to hear if her bid on her dream home has been accepted.

Details of Kandi and Phaedra’s terrible lunch spread like wildfire. Then additional accusations are leveled against Kandi and Shamea. Shereé has to deal with the consequences of having a costly taste. Porsha enrolls in an out-of-the-ordinary exercise class to spice up her new romance.
Episode 9 - "Char-lotta Drama"
Kenya is invited to the opening celebration of Club One in Charlotte, North Carolina, which Peter will host. Kandi believes a former coworker has deceived her. Shereé is getting ready to release a memoir about her life. A few unexpected visitors interrupt Peter’s grand opening.
Episode 10 - "Uncharitable Behavior"
When Kenya returns, she finds that her ex-boyfriend has damaged Moore Manor once more. While advising Kenya, Phaedra shares personal details about her marriage. Cynthia and Noelle leave their townhouse, which they shared with Peter.
Episode 11 - "Thelma and Louise Take Flint"
Phaedra and Kenya renew their friendship while traveling to Flint, Michigan, for Phaedra’s summer camp. Cynthia settles in at Kandi’s place. Porsha notices red flags in her relationship with Todd.
Episode 12 - "Into The Woods"
Kenya and Phaedra want to go ahead with their glamping vacation plans. Cynthia talks with Matt to address his anger issues. Sheree spills some tea at the surprise engagement party Kandi organizes for Shamea.
Episode 13 - "If These Woods Could Talk"
The women arrive in Georgia’s woods for a weekend of ‘glamping’ but are surprised to hear they must sleep the first night. Marlo confronts Kenya about an unfinished business matter. The ladies gather for outdoor activities. Kandi becomes aware of the rumors circulating about her.
Episode 14 - "Loose Lips Sink Ships"
The ladies return to Atlanta following the dramatic conclusion of their glamping vacation. Cynthia prepares for her fashion show. Porsha issues an ultimatum to Todd. Phaedra receives divorce news. Kandi and Porsha meet to discuss lingering issues.
Episode 15 - "Lei It All on the Table"
Kandi relays Porsha’s claims, while the latter reveals small details to her sister. Kenya has a surprise visitor. Todd and Kandi plan a couples’ romantic vacation in Maui. Porsha is given a day of spa treatments. Sheree attempts to be completely transparent, but her efforts backfire.
Episode 16 - "Maui Mayhem"
Kandi and Porsha argue about who is to blame for scandalous allegations during their first dinner in Maui. Kandi organizes a speedboat trip (without Porsha). Sheree’s courtship encounters setbacks. Phaedra sets up an urgent “restoration service.”
Episode 17 - "Aloha & Goodbye"
After Phaedra’s attempts to re-unite the group fails, a roast of Peter is organized. Sheree must choose between living with Bob and living without him. Cynthia accepts the dissolution of her marriage. Kenya and Phaedra’s friendship is put to the test when Kenya throws a divorce party.
Episode 18 - "Baby Nups & Breakups"
The women had returned from a trip to Hawaii. Cynthia demonstrates her strength to Atlanta’s fashionistas, but Sheree attempts to intervene. Kandi intends to do a restaurant preview. Porsha is ready to advance her romantic relationship. Matt reappears in the picture.

Todd and Kandi rush to open the Old Lady Gang restaurant. Cynthia’s divorce is the focus of several dramas. Phaedra’s birthday is celebrated. At a preview event, the ladies come together, but an unexpected visitor shows up, causing revelations about a divorce.
Episode 20 - "Chateau She Did That"
Sheree has a housewarming celebration to open Chateau Sheree in the season finale. Kim Zolciak-Biermann makes a surprising return to the group, and Kenya finds herself squaring up against her. Phaedra lends a helping hand to Kandi’s ex-dissatisfied employee. Porsha pays a visit to her father’s grave.
